This is a flexible instructor-led credit recovery Geometry course. Instructors regularly interact with students and provide assistance and feedback on work. This course covers Geometry concepts for credit recovery. Students may work at their own pace to complete the course and may take up to 15 weeks to complete the course.
This course emphasizes the relationships among geometric figures and concepts. Specifically, students will explore basic figures (points, lines, angles), parallel and perpendicular lines, congruence, similarity, quadrilaterals, trigonometry, circles, and volume. Students will apply logical thinking throughout the course through constructions and problem solving. There will be an emphasis on solving real world applications using these concepts throughout the course.
Please note that this course is an abbreviated course. Therefore, the course does not cover a full year’s curriculum with the same depth that is covered in a year-long course. Students are expected to work approximately 8-10 hours per week. In addition, if the student is taking this course for credit recovery, it is strongly advised that you check with the student's school to confirm that the topics covered (see course syllabus) match those required by the school. You may also want to confirm with the school the process for receiving credits, which may involve an assessment administered separately by the school.
A construction program will be utilized in the course, but a calculator, protractor, compass, and ruler may also be helpful to use in the course.
Please note:This course may include course content which will require regular access to a desktop computer with a Windows/Mac operating system or Chromebook. Some parts of the course may not be able to be completed on a mobile device.
