Your Brain: An Introduction to Neuroscience is an exciting summer course offered in partnership with the Center for Transnational Science Education (CTSE) at Tufts Medical School. The Neurological Disease course provides students with an opportunity to explore how our brains work and how disease and our choices change our brains.
The Neurological Disorders Module is organized around four key questions:
- Got Brains? What do our brains need to do?
- What are the building blocks of our brains and how do they communicate with each other?
- How do our neurons work together to control behaviors?
- How do our choices change our brains?
These questions guide our investigation of the nervous system from the building blocks of our brains to how our brains control behavior. Students will explore each of these questions and then, for a final project describe the anatomy, physiology, detection methods and treatment options of a neurological disorder.
*Students who plan to transfer credit from VHS Learning to their full-time high school should check with their school to confirm they will accept the credits before registering for a VHS Learning summer course.
