Description
Do you ever watch Criminal Minds or similar shows and find yourself intrigued by the process of how the stars go about catching the killer or “unsub?” Do you ever think to yourself, “I could do that”? This course will allow you to play the part of your favorite profiler. You will be immersed in the middle of several crime scenes that will demand your utmost attention to detail. As the sole person in charge of the case, you will need to do psychological autopsies on the victims and pick up clues from the crime scenes that will shed light upon the personality of the killer. After making the web organizers that will link the victims and their profiles, you will be given complete backgrounds of several persons of interest. Then, in the ultimate game of “Clue”, you will submit your completed profile of the unsub and outline how the crimes relate to one another.
If you dream about working for the FBI or being a police detective, this is the class that may spark an exciting career path.
Please note that this course is an abbreviated course. Therefore, the course does not cover a full curriculum with the same depth that is covered in a semester-long course. Students are expected to work approximately 8-10 hours per week. In addition, if the student is taking this course for credit recovery or initial credit, it is strongly advised that you check with the student's school to confirm that the topics covered (see course syllabus) match those required by the school. You may also want to confirm with the school the process for receiving credits, which may involve an assessment administered separately by the school.
