This is a flexible instructor-led credit recovery course. Instructors regularly interact with students and provide assistance and feedback on work. Students may work at their own pace to complete the course, and may take up to 15 weeks to complete the course.
Students will study the time periods spanning from the Colonial Period to 1877. They will examine and evaluate the different economic, social, and political factors that led to changes and growth of the United States. There will be a key focus on analyzing primary and secondary source documents to help understand the lives of the diverse people who make up the United States. In addition, students will also have the opportunity to create an original and thoughtful project that will be submitted during Module 10.
Recurring Activities
Each week, the assignments repeat so that students will quickly become comfortable with the course content and how it is addressed. The week begins with the week's overview document, followed by readings, a reading response, global connections and how the historical events of the past have had an impact on current events. There are weekly check ins for the PowerPower Project that is due at the end of the course.
