This is a summer course designed for students to analyze functions seen in a standard Pre-Calculus course. Specifically, students will primarily focus on functions that include linear, polynomial, rational, exponential and logarithmic functions. Students will focus on the key properties and graphs of these functions. There will be an emphasis on solving real world applications throughout the course. This course does not include topics from trigonometry.
Please note that this course is an abbreviated course which lasts 4 weeks. Therefore, the course does not cover a full year’s curriculum with the same depth that is covered in a year-long course. Students are expected to work approximately 8-10 hours per week. In addition, if the student is taking this course for credit recovery or initial credit, it is strongly advised that you check with the student's school to confirm that the topics covered (see course syllabus) match those required by the school. You may also want to confirm with the school the process for receiving credits, which may involve an assessment administered separately by the school.

Students will be able to:
Perform arithmetic operations with polynomials and rational expressions
Analyze functions using different representations
Build functions that model relationships
Calculate and interpret complex solutions
Students should have access to a graphing calculator (TI-83 or TI-84)
