Description
How well do you know yourself? Do you have the skills you need to become the best version of yourself as you grow into adulthood? This course encourages you to search inside yourself. This course does not answer the question “What do you want to do when you grow up?” but rather, it asks the question: “What kind of person do you want to be?”
In Unit 1, we’ll learn how to understand ourselves and how we relate to the world. In Unit 2, we’ll develop a vision for our ideal future. In Unit 3, we’ll practice the personal, professional, and practical skills that will help us make that future a reality. We will explore the key CASEL competencies for social-emotional learning: Self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, relationship skills, and social awareness.
Our assignments will connect with our real life every week. We’ll interview friends, professionals, and family members. We’ll conduct personal experiments to learn how we respond to pressure, how to stay motivated, and how to find purpose and satisfaction in our lives.
In this standard-level course, students are expected to invest approximately 6 hours per week on their course work.
