Students build upon the foundation developed in Spanish 1. They continue to build vocabulary, learn new verb tenses and other grammar concepts, and they increase their ability to communicate with others. They learn new concepts, like reflexive verbs, infinitive expressions, commands, and the imperfect tense. Semester B will continue building on vocabulary, grammar concepts, and communicating effectively in the target language. Students will explore new countries where Spanish is spoken and continue to keep abreast of current events in the Spanish-speaking world.

Students learn through online lesson activities, videos, and interactive activities. Modules contain a variety of lessons, which conclude with a brief self-check and module exam. The course concludes with a cumulative exam.
This paced course uses content from Accelerate Education taught by a VHS Learning instructor who is certified in their content area and who follows VHS Learning policies. The course will be hosted in the Buzz learning management system. The course will include a variety of individual assignments and projects, as well as class discussions.
Course Learning Objectives:
- Describe places, ask and answer questions about locations, and use commands to give directions.
- Explore new vocabulary focused on relationships, celebrations, traditions, fashion, shopping, college, student experiences, and food.
- Conjugate and apply the preterite and imperfect tenses, recognizing when to use each in describing past actions.
- Appreciate Spanish culture through exploration of Hispanic art and literature, cultural events, and engaging with Spanish-language media.
